Styled Habitat was selected by Norwegian paint company Jotun to design their Regional Headquarters and Research & Development Center. Drawing inspiration from Jotun’s Norwegian roots, Styled Habitat crafted a sophisticated design that honors a distinctly Scandinavian approach to functionalism. The project, in collaboration with the architectural firm ‘Royal Haskoning DHV,' helped create the region’s leading innovation and science hub headquarters, located in Dubai Science Park.

The project features two separate buildings: one for the regional administrative offices housing 230 staff members, and the other for the Research and Development labs. The interior design is deeply influenced by natural elements, with minimal interiors that emphasize clean architectural lines. The focus remained on using honest materials, with color applied to accent individual spaces and architectural details—treating color as art within the space.

Expansive glass facades flood the interiors with natural daylight, while long, linear hallways create clear visual axes that guide easy navigation throughout the building. At the heart of the office building, exposed steel interconnecting stairs tie the various departments together, fostering a relaxed atmosphere. A sky bridge connects the two buildings, allowing occupants to maneuver freely between their day-to-day functions.

Styled Habitat created a flexible work environment by combining open and closed office spaces, with breakout areas on each floor to promote collaboration and maintain a distraction-free atmosphere. Large boardrooms and smaller conference spaces are equipped with embedded automation for seamless user experiences.

Styled Habitat also brought elements of the Norwegian forest to life with vertical white oak wood slats in the cozy, restaurant-like staff canteen. The canteen features three seating styles—bespoke benches for quick coffee breaks, booths for group gatherings, and banquette seating under a timber-slat drop ceiling for added enclosure.

Additionally, the project earned a ‘Silver’ LEED certification by implementing innovations like a concrete slab cooling system and solar power, reducing daily energy consumption by 10%. Jotun HQ and R&D honor the company’s Nordic roots, showcasing a commitment to functionalism, quality, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
